Talking about personal matters can be difficult to do even when talking to someone that you understand well. That can make it feel harder when talking to a complete stranger.
It’s your therapist’s goal to help you make progress in the areas that you’re dealing with. And in order for them to do that, they need you, to be sincere with them. This doesn’t mean that you need to pour out every information of your life, but make certain that the info you are sharing holds true.
