When talking to somebody that you know well, talking about personal matters can be difficult to do even. When talking to a complete stranger, that can make it feel harder. If your therapist is starting to discuss something that’s hard for you, you may want to back off on talking about it. It could be that it’s painful to think of or that you truly feel you do not know the deeper responses that they’re searching for. However if you only allow them in on half of the details, your development will be prevented.
It’s your therapist’s objective to assist you make progress in the locations that you’re battling with. And in order for them to do that, they need you, to be honest with them. This does not mean that you need to pour out every information of your life, however make sure that the information you are sharing is true.
